FuelCloud is backed by four generations of fuel industry knowledge. FuelCloud co-founders Alex and Kevin Bretthauer come from a fuel family - their great grandfather founded an oil distribution company in the Pacific Northwest almost 100 years ago.

Kevin and Alex worked in the family business for several years after college. During that time, the pair noticed a number of problems in how fuel was managed: Businesses relied on clunky, expensive hardware powered by outdated software to manage their fuel, or weren’t using a fuel management system at all. This lack of inventory management made life even harder for jobbers, who were constantly playing a guessing game trying to set fair prices for fill-ups.

Alex and Kevin founded FuelCloud in 2015 to design a fuel management system that used modern technology and flexible software to give tank owners the insight they need at a fraction of the price of existing fuel management systems. Today, FuelCloud systems have been installed across the United States and around the world by businesses and organizations who use the new visibility they have into their fuel to make better business decisions.

In 2019, FuelCloud was issued patent #10210696, governing the connection of cloud-based servers to fuel pumps through mobile devices. The patent is recognition of the company’s innovation and tech-first approach to building the world’s best fuel management system.

Since our founding in 2015, we’ve tracked more than a billion dollars in fuel transactions, have installed hardware around the world and in all 50 states, and been awarded multiple patents for our innovative approach to fuel management.
